Caught The Last Broadcast @ Crash Mansion on Bowery, last Wednesday.

Around a year ago, lead vocalist, Loki had been tapped by Professor of Funk Ben Hillman for his album cut, "Pass The Juice" (along with Jise of the Arsonists). I served as an MC/engineer in the venture. We all became fast friends, and had a great time during the session. I soon after sought out what recordings I could find of The Last Broadcast on myspace & their official website.

I like the way these guys show complete disregard for the boundries that have been put in place. Their funk/rock foundation only sets the stage for transporting experimental tangents, instrumentally. Loki's consistently precise, seemingly tireless flow is laced with universal themes of love and life. His focus is on sending a message with each verse. "Bla Bla" playfully takes on the ubiquity of materialistic subject matter in Hip Hop.Another favorite, "Get Ya Handz Up" is a sick upbeat groove that keeps you on your toes, listening to Loki's insane, meandering flow.
